A major new resort has opened on the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire, the Caribbean Journal has confirmed.
The new Time to Smile Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort Bonaire is the second property of the Chogogo brand, joining its existing resort in neighboring Curacao.
He welcomed his very first guests on Wednesday.
The 201-room resort offers a mix of studios, one-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom bungalows, and three-bedroom bungalows.
It is instantly one of Bonaire’s most complete seaside resorts: that means amenities including a beach; a bar and restaurant; shore diving and snorkeling; a swimming pool and pool deck and, most notably, the only lazy river on Bonaire.
While the resort is still in the process of completing construction of a dive school, guests have access to a nearby PADI dive center.
Dining concepts include an a la carte restaurant called Sunset, as well as a beach bar called Beach Bar Bari.
The Chogogo is located in the heart of one of the most popular areas of the west coast of Bonaire, just outside of Kralendijk town center, opposite Klein Bonaire Island.
The original Chogogo Resort is located in the popular Jan Thiel Bay area of Curaçao.
It is the latest addition to a growing portfolio of new resorts in Bonaire, with the hottest seaside resort on the island, the Delfins seaside resort, which opened before the pandemic (and is now expanding), and the soon to be relaunched Sunset Beach Bonaire; the latter will add 160 additional rooms to the island’s park.
Bonaire has also seen a wave of new flights, including relaunching service from the United States on United and expanding flights from Miami on American Airlines.
