SR74 Caltrans work between beach towns and Lake Elsinore continues

Most of Caltrans’ roadwork is heading to desert communities and San Bernardino as summer winds down. However, work continues in the Lake Elsinore area as State Route 74 to the Orange County line continues.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission announced that, in partnership with Caltrans, it is constructing Interstate 15 and the Freeway Express Lanes Connector that will provide a new connection from the eastbound 91 express lanes that many Southwest motorists use Riverside to get to Los Angeles and Orange. County. It will connect the freeway 91 express lanes to the future northbound I-15 express lanes and the westbound 91 express lanes.

Caltrans notes that widening the lane of State Route 74 near Lake Elsinore could result in complete weeknight closures from Monday, Sept. 12 through Sept. 16. Work continues on DR71 from Lake Elsinore at the Orange County border to Monte Vista Street just west of the lake. Elsinore.

Crews will perform forming, pouring, excavation and rebar barrier work at various locations within the project area. Contractors will be performing daytime work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. which will require one-way closings during the day. These closures will take place near Bear Canyon and will be approximately one mile long. Signage indicating the closed areas will be placed in front of the work area. A signaling operation will assist in traffic control.

Complete weeknight closures will result in one-way traffic control with signaling with pilot vehicles in place from 8 p.m. to 9:59 p.m. During the hours of 10 p.m. transit.

Caltrans said residents and commuters will have to use the alternate routes to get around the shutdown each night starting at 10 p.m. Access through the work area will be prohibited during the hours previously indicated. Work will take place every evening, east of the county line on SR-74, Monday through Friday. Residents of Tenaja Truck Trail or west of Tenaja Truck Trail, including Ortega Oaks Park and Campground and The Candy Store, will be directed to Lake Elsinore but will not have access to Orange County during hours of 10 p.m. 5:00 a.m. Residents of Long Canyon and Decker Canyon will be directed to Lake Elsinore and also will not have access to Orange County between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Caltrans in San Bernardino is working on fiber optics, railing systems and lighting at connector I-15 and I-215, which is a $1.6 million project to modify communications and lighting by fiber optic, install new Midwest railing systems and terminal system end treatments on I-10 in this county, weather permitting. From September 15-30, 9-9 p.m. (Sunday-Friday), there will be lane closures between the westbound 1-10 and the northbound I-215 connector with lane 2 closed.

The westbound I-10 exit ramp at Waterman Ave. will be closed. Future operations may include shoulder, lane and ramp closures approaching and within the I-10/215 separation construction area 0.4 mile west of the Waterman Avenue with possible detours to be determined. The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2022.

Extensive street lighting, sewer and utility work on Menifee and Wildomar roads continues this week, weather permitting. Beware of City, Southern California Edison, Calrans, RCTC and Eastern Water Municipal District flaggers, warning signs and work crews on these projects.
