ST. PETE BEACH – The St. Pete Beach City Commission has awarded Sand Dunes Beach Services LLC a five-year contract with a five-year renewal option to provide concession services – cabanas, umbrellas and lounge chairs – at Pass Beach -A-Grid and Upham Beach Sites. The contract provides that the services will begin on September 1.
The new contract caps an excellent year for Sand Dunes Beach Services, according to Ted McNamara, general manager. Previously, the company won a five-year contract renewal for Pinellas County St. Pete Beach Access Park and new contracts for Miramar Resort, Mariner Beach Club Resort and Plaza Beach Resort, all in St. Pete. Beach.
In accepting St. Pete Beach’s new contract, McNamara said, “We are extremely pleased to provide our professional services to local and tourist customers at both Pass-A-Grille Beach and Upham Beach. We are committed to providing similar, high quality performance to our many local customers, Pinellas County St. Pete Beach Access Park and Madeira Beach Access Park Concession, owned of the county, under contract from Sand Key Beach Services, LLC,” McNamara said in a press release.
The city decided to contract out beach cabana services directly rather than through the Upham and Pass-A-Grille snack bar concession contract, Mayor Al Johnson said.
“After receiving three high quality proposals, we were delighted to award the contract to Sand Dunes Beach Services. With them, we have a local business, made up of many residents of the city and with a long track record of successfully operating on SPB and surrounding areas. It’s a great situation when we can use such a great local business and turn it into a financial benefit for the city,” he said.
Sand Dunes Beach Services will be offering cabanas, umbrellas and lounge chairs at Pass-A-Grille Beach and Upham Beach seven days a week, weather permitting, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with discounted prices after 3 p.m. Any active military or veteran is extended free hire with a service ID.
