Outrigger Hospitality Group announced two key leadership appointments – Steve Miller as the new Managing Director of Outrigger Waikiki Resort and Cesar Herrera as the company’s vice president of design and construction.
Miller takes the helm of the iconic Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort as the new General Manager, to deliver exceptional guest experiences while ensuring operational profitability, guest engagement and development.
Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is home to some of Hawaii’s most recognized dining and entertainment venues including Duke’s Waikiki, Hula Grill, Sunrise Shack, Pai’s Deli, and Blue Note Hawaii.
Miller brings extensive management experience and a successful track record of managing resorts under various brands.
Prior to joining Outrigger, Miller was General Manager of The Westin/Sheraton Birmingham in Alabama and General Manager of Hyatt Regency Birmingham, Marriott Clearwater Beach, Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa, and Beverly Heritage Hotel. . . His early hospitality career began with Hyatt Hotels Corporation, where he rose through the ranks from Assistant Executive Housekeeper to Front Officer Manager and then Regional Executive Assistant Manager.
Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in hotel management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and an associate’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from Paul Smith’s College in New York.
Herrera, as Vice President of Design and Construction, now oversees all capital projects for the global portfolio of hotels and resorts owned and/or managed by Outrigger, while also providing advice and supervision. This role is critical to Outrigger’s growth and redevelopment strategy in Hawaii, Asia Pacific and the Indian Ocean.
Herrera has extensive project experience – from adding and improving assets, to developing and overseeing the budget, to conceptual visioning, design coordination, as well as managing and to the execution of the project from start to finish.
Prior to joining Outrigger, Herrera was vice president of development and construction for Mina Group in San Francisco. Prior to that, he worked for 18 years at Kimpton Hotels, beginning his career as a project engineer, before becoming senior development and construction manager. Herrera has a long list of successfully completed projects, including new construction, renovations, adaptive reuse, tenant improvements, and technical services projects across the continental United States, in Toronto, as well as in Grand Cayman.
