Agapi Beach Resort in Crete changes hands


The 4 star Agapi Beach Resortlocated nearby HeraklionAt the heart of Cretehas a new owner following the sale of its parent company.

ENFAE Tourist Enterprises SA, business interests of Fotis Sbokos, has purchased MAKRINOI Orizontes SA, owner of the hotel, from Phāea Resorts (Golf Residences SA).

The 321-room beachfront resort is located in Ammoudara, Heraklion, and operates as an upscale all-inclusive resort. Its construction began in 1976 by Giannis V. Sbokos, an electromechanical engineer, and it opened in 1978.

According to Phāea Resorts, the resort has a successful performance, consistently maintaining high percentages of returning customers.

Agapi Beach has a main building, bungalows and suites, three swimming pools, a beach, four restaurants and three bars, conference rooms, sports facilities, shops, a club for children and a spa.

Always maintaining high standards in the provision of services and infrastructure and placing particular emphasis on the principles of sustainability, the resort has been distinguished with important awards and certifications, such as the first TUI CARE Foundation – Sustainability Global Hotel Award in 2020, Green Key 2021, Travel Life 2021 and TUI Top Quality 2022.

Agapi Beach also participated as one of the first resorts in the pilot program “Crete: First steps towards a sustainable food destination” by Futouris and the TUI Care Foundation during the period 2016-2019.

Phāea Resorts will provide sales, marketing and revenue management services to Agapi Beach Resort and will also launch a new round of investment to upgrade its other hotels and create new options for guests.

The portfolio of Phaea Resorts includes the following hotels in Crete: the five star Blue Palace, a luxury resort and spa in Elounda; the five star Malia Cretan Park; the Koutouloufari Village Holiday Club and the Village Heights Golf Resort in Hersonissos.
